The things people ask first.

Do tippers need to download an app?

No. The QR code opens a normal web page. Choose an amount from R10 to R1 000 and pay with Apple Pay, card, Instant EFT or Capitec Pay — done. Nothing to install, no account to create.

When does the money reach me?

Tips are split at the moment of payment and Paystack settles your 95% to your own bank account, typically within a few business days — not at month-end, and never through anyone else's books. Scan2Tip never holds your money.

What does it cost?

Nothing for venues, and no set-up or monthly fees for staff. Scan2Tip’s platform fee is 5% of each tip, so the staff member receives 95%. Paystack’s processing charges come out of Scan2Tip’s 5%, not the staff member’s share, and guests pay exactly the amount they choose.

Do you store my bank or card details?

Never. Payments and payouts are handled end-to-end by Paystack, a licensed payment provider operating in South Africa. Scan2Tip never sees a tipper's card number, and keeps only the last four digits of a staff member's account, for display.

What do I need to sign up?

A phone and a bank account in your own name. Create your profile, add your bank details once, and your personal QR code is generated on the spot. If your venue uses Scan2Tip, join with its invite link and you go live once your manager approves you; otherwise we review your account ourselves.

Can the venue see or take our tips?

The venue owner approves who joins their team and can see how much each person was tipped at their venue. They can’t see your bank details and can’t touch your money: Paystack pays your 95% straight into your own account. Tips you receive anywhere else stay private.

How do you keep it safe?

We verify every venue, and its owner confirms each person on their team; staff not linked to a venue are reviewed by us. Changing payout details sends an account back for review. Each tip is limited to R1 000 and each code to a set number of payments an hour. Payments and payouts run through Paystack, so no one at Scan2Tip handles the money.

Can a guest get a refund?

Tips are voluntary, so they aren’t refunded for a change of mind. If a payment went wrong — charged twice, the wrong amount, or a card used without permission — we refund it. See the guest terms & refund policy.
